Manji Sahib Diwan Hall

Place

Large covered diwan hall in the Sri Harmandir Sahib complex at Amritsar where the SGPC holds its major Gurmat Samagams, from centenaries to the Sahibzade's martyrdom.

Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall is a large covered hall in the Sri Harmandir Sahib complex at Amritsar, opposite the Guru Ram Das langar hall. Visitor guides to the complex describe it as the place where a granthi explains the day's hukamnama to the sangat each morning and evening, a practice they trace to Guru Arjan, and where a raised platform under a marble canopy marks the spot where Guru Arjan recited Barah Mah. They add that the gurdwara is dedicated to Guru Arjan Dev and that he composed Sukhmani Sahib there. These are the guides' accounts of tradition; the sources opened do not explain the name Manji Sahib.

The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) uses the hall for its largest congregations.
