Sant Sipahi (Saint Soldier)
ਸੰਤ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ
Punjabi monthly published from Amritsar, founded by Master Tara Singh and edited in 1986 by his daughter Dr Rajinder Kaur. Gurmit Singh took the Declaration of Khalistan from its June 1986 issue.
Sant Sipahi, meaning Saint Soldier, is a Punjabi monthly magazine published from Amritsar. Gurmit Singh, in volume I of his History of Sikh Struggles (1989), describes it as founded by Master Tara Singh and by then edited by his daughter, Dr Rajinder Kaur. The sources found do not say in which year it began, who edited it before that, or how long it ran.
The Declaration of Khalistan: Gurmit Singh prints an English text of the Declaration of Khalistan as Appendix 59 (pages 532 to 540). His footnote says that his Appendix 59 reproduces the text from Sant Sipahi, June 1986, pp. 25 to 28, so that issue carried the Declaration. The footnote credits the English translation to Nazer Singh Brar, Gopal Singh and a third translator, and thanks two scholars of Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, for corrections. The text names the Five-member Panthic Committee that the Sarbat Khalsa of January 1986 nominated.
Where it stands: the sources found mention Sant Sipahi only through this footnote, so its later history is not known here.
