Key moments

• October 2022: he said Amritpal Singh's appointment as head of Waris Punjab De was illegal and that the organisation "has been hijacked" and needed an inquiry. He said Deep had never spoken of Amritpal and had blocked Amritpal's phone for 15 days in January and February 2022, and that he had the evidence. The family also asked for an investigation into Amritpal's background.
• 9 June 2026: at the Chandigarh joining ceremony of the rebel Akali MLA Manpreet Singh Ayali, he shared a stage with the Shiromani Akali Dal (Waris Punjab De) for the first time, in his first public appearance as its recently appointed Secretary-General. The Tribune said he had been in a bitter feud with the party's leadership.
• Amritpal Singh's father, Tarsem Singh, asked him to address the media. He said he had joined at Tarsem Singh's instance, that he wanted to bring change to Punjab as his brother had by giving his life for its issues, and that Ayali's joining marked the start of the campaign for the 2027 Assembly elections. The Tribune reported that he is preparing to contest from Maur.

Known for: first contesting, then joining, the party that inherited his brother's movement, bringing the founder's family back into it.
