Giani Ajmer Singh
ਗਿਆਨੀ ਅਜਮੇਰ ਸਿੰਘ
Secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal in 1977, named as publisher of the party's Punjabi booklet of the Anandpur Sahib Resolution; not the historian Bhai Ajmer Singh.
Giani Ajmer Singh was the Secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal in 1977, when the party published the Punjabi text of its resolution on a new policy-programme, which is known as the Anandpur Sahib Resolution. He is not the historian Bhai Ajmer Singh.
The cover of the Akali Dal's Punjabi booklet, titled the resolution on the Shiromani Akali Dal's new policy-programme, names him as publisher and as Secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal. It says the Working Committee of the Akali Dal passed the resolution at Sri Anandpur Sahib on 16 and 17 October 1973 and that the General Session at Sri Amritsar passed it on 28 August 1977.
Khushwant Singh writes that for three years after the resolution was adopted at Anandpur not much was heard of it, until August 1977, when Gyani Ajmer Singh, secretary of the Akali Dal, released another version of a draft of the new policy programme of the party at Amritsar. Gurmit Singh writes that of three versions of the resolution then in circulation, one was identified with Kapur Singh and another was put forward by Dr Bhagat Singh, and that the third, which he calls the Akali Dal's official version, was printed and circulated by the late Giani Ajmer Singh, Secretary of the Shiromani Akali Dal.
