Church of Signs and Wonders

Independent church at Khambra near Jalandhar, started in 2008 by Ankur Yoseph Narula and called the biggest of its region by The Tribune in 2023. Narula denies that money is paid for conversion.

The Church of Signs and Wonders is an independent church at Khambra village on Nakodar Road, near Jalandhar. It was started in 2008 and is led by Ankur Yoseph Narula, with his wife, Sonia Yoseph Narula, also a pastor. In February 2023 The Tribune called it "the biggest church of the region".

Size and reach: in December 2018 The Tribune reported that the church already owned 26 acres, where prayers were held under tents, and was raising a new building on a separate 7-acre site. By February 2023 the paper counted 12 branches in Punjab towns, others in West Bengal, Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, and weekly services abroad in cities including London, Toronto and New York. Narula then had 1.34 million YouTube subscribers and 111,000 Instagram followers. We found no official attendance count. Narula himself says "lakhs" of people come, an assertion The Tribune did not verify.

Key moments

The dispute: in October 2021 Giani Harpreet Singh, then Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, accused Christian missionaries of mass forced conversion of Sikh and Scheduled Caste Sikh families in the border belt, and the SGPC began a campaign in the villages. The Bishop of Amritsar of the Church of North India called the charge baseless. Those statements concern missionaries in general and do not name this church. In February 2023 The Tribune quoted an unnamed follower who said worshippers are handed a pouch and expected to put in cash on the way out, with the amount left to what they can pay. No response from the church is recorded. In December 2025 Narula told The Tribune he was not there to change religion but to change lives, and denied taking money for conversion.

These are claims and denials, not findings. The sources we opened do not show how many Sikhs attend or have left the Panth for the church.
