Jhunir
Town in Mansa district where Dal Khalsa’s Paramjit Singh Mand spoke in a gurdwara in 2025 on the Ghallughara of 1984 and asked that gurdwara microphones open to Panthic prachar.
Jhunir is a town of about 7,000 people in Sardulgarh tehsil of Mansa district, on State Highway 13 and about 20 km from Mansa. It is also the seat of a development block. The 2011 census counted 7,159 people there.
Its place in this record is as a venue. A video published by Sikh Siyasat on 18 July 2025, titled “Sikhs and the Sikh Raj: Speech of Paramjit Singh Mand (Dal Khalsa) at Jhunir (Mansa)”, records a long address by the Dal Khalsa leader in a gurdwara in the town.
What he said there. He speaks of the Ghallughara of June 1984 and argues that prachar was strong enough to persuade Sikh soldiers that attacking Sri Darbar Sahib was a pious act. He says that many gurdwaras have shut their microphones to this kind of prachar, and asks where else Sikhs are to speak of their rights if not from the gurdwara microphone, when others use theirs. He adds that he had made the same request at Jhunir on an earlier visit, and that it was meant for the wider sangat and not for this gurdwara.
What it means today. The speech shows the Dal Khalsa asking that village gurdwara stages stay open to Panthic political speech. The sources opened do not say whether Jhunir holds a regular Ghallughara gathering or give the date of the address.
