Paramjit Singh Tanda

General secretary of Dal Khalsa; former president of Sikh Youth of Punjab

General secretary of Dal Khalsa since September 2017 and earlier president of Sikh Youth of Punjab; a different man from Paramjit Singh Mand, though both serve in the same organisation.

Paramjit Singh Tanda is the general secretary of Dal Khalsa, a Sikh political organisation, and before that headed Sikh Youth of Punjab. He is a living public figure, and the public record on him is thin: he is named as an office-holder and co-signatory far more often than he is quoted.

Not to be confused with Paramjit Singh Mand. Mand is another senior Dal Khalsa leader. "Tanda" is not a family name but the area of Hoshiarpur district from which, Sikh Siyasat's 2017 report says, he comes. Where a report says only "Paramjit Singh" of Dal Khalsa, the office tells you which man is meant: general secretary is Tanda. The Tribune's own report of 14 March 2026 mixes the two names in a single sub-headline and its body text.

Key moments

Remembered for: for now, steady office-bearing in Dal Khalsa across nearly a decade, and a consistent public line that the Khalsa Panth, not a single office-holder, holds final authority, and that Sikhs abroad and at home face state pressure.
