Karan Aujla is a Punjabi singer, rapper and songwriter based in Canada. Wikipedia gives his birth name as Jaskaran Singh Aujla and his birth as 18 January 1997 in Ghurala village, Ludhiana district; it says he moved to British Columbia in 2014, finished school in Burnaby and began as a songwriter, most famously with Jassi Gill's song "Range". He is a living person, and what follows is limited to his public work and to what outlets have reported about it.

Key moments

  • His debut album Bacthafucup came in 2021, followed by Making Memories (2023) and Street Dreams with the Mumbai rapper Divine (2024), according to Wikipedia.
  • 22 August 2025: he released the double album P-POP CULTURE. Billboard Canada reported that it debuted at No. 3 on the Canadian Albums chart with 12.4 million first-week streams, the biggest debut ever for a Punjabi-language album in Canada. Spotify reported that it reached No. 1 on its India weekly albums chart in the first week and had nearly 200 million streams by October 2025.
  • September 2025: Billboard Canada reported that he would headline the first Rolling Loud India, at Loud Park, Navi Mumbai, on 22 and 23 November, the only Punjabi act among its four headliners.
  • 7 August 2025: the Punjab State Commission for Women took suo motu notice of what it called objectionable language against women in his song "MF Gabru" (and in Honey Singh's "Millionaire") and asked Punjab Police to investigate, summoning both singers for 11 August. Both were abroad. The commission's chair said that both had expressed regret by phone and promised to appear within 15 days. The Tribune's report does not give an outcome.

Known for: taking Punjabi-language pop and hip-hop from the Canadian diaspora onto Canadian, Indian and global streaming charts, and for the 2025 complaint over his lyrics.
