ਬਲਜਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਕੋਟਭਾਰਾ

Journalist and author of the Kaurnama series

Journalist and author of Kaurnama, the three-volume record of Shaheed Sikh women of the Kharku struggle and of June 1984, built from interviews with families.

Baljinder Singh Kotbhara is a Punjabi journalist and author. He wrote Kaurnama, a series of books on the Shaheed Sikh women of the Sikh struggle of the 1980s and 1990s. He is a living public figure, and this profile is limited to his published books as reported by Sikh Siyasat News.

Sikh Siyasat News says the project began as an idea of Shaheed Bhai Paramjit Singh Panjwar, who was assassinated in exile, and that it was completed under the guidance and patronage of Panth Sewak Bhai Daljit Singh (Bittu). For the third volume the author compiled the material from interviews and information given by surviving family members, relatives and acquaintances.

  • Rajghat Te Hamla: a book about Bhai Karamjit Singh Sunam, released at a Gurmat Samagam at Kotbhara village, Bathinda district, on 25 May 2024, marking forty years of the Teeja Ghallughara.

Sikh Siyasat's books podcast of February 2025 took up the first volume as the untold stories of Sikh women warriors and named him as its author.

He is remembered for collecting these accounts while the families and witnesses are still alive. His third volume is about the women who died at Sri Darbar Sahib in June 1984.
