Ohio city whose Sikhs worship at the Guru Nanak Society's gurdwara in West Chester Township. It armed its security after the 2012 Oak Creek attack and organises the city's Vaisakhi parade.

The Guru Nanak Society of Greater Cincinnati runs the gurdwara that serves the Sikhs of the Cincinnati area, on Tylersville Road in West Chester Township. The society's own site gives its address as 4394 Tylersville Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45011, and places the gurdwara at Chester, Ohio. NPR says the society organises Cincinnati's Vaisakhi parade each April.

The congregation. A WCPO report from about 2016, undated on its page, quotes a community leader, Bharaj, saying that about 800 Sikh families in the Cincinnati area are listed as members of the gurdwara and that more than 2,000 families from Northern Kentucky, Indiana and Cincinnati consider themselves part of the congregation.

After Oak Creek. Before 2012 the gurdwara kept all four doors unlocked during business hours, in line with the Sikh teaching that visitors may enter from any direction. After the attack on the gurdwara at Oak Creek, Wisconsin, on 5 August 2012, in which a gunman killed six people, its executive committee held an emergency meeting and adopted a security plan. WCPO reports a 12-member all-male security team that carries concealed weapons, trained and certified with help from the West Chester police and the FBI, along with cameras, alarms and protected glass.

Ohio context. NPR reported in June 2026 that Ohio's Sikh community set up its first gurdwara in the 1980s, at Richfield, and had nearly ten gurdwaras across the state by 2025.
